If you have sounds on your harddisk but your irc program will not play them then the bottom of this page has instructions for MIRC or PIRCH sound setup.

To download click on filename. If your browser has a built-in wav player such as Creshendo wait for the file to start playing then right mouse click and save the file to irc program sounds directory

Getting your Sounds Playing with MIRC

Make sure your speakers are plugged in and turned on.

Go to the top tool bar and click on FILE (at the top left)

Then Click on OPTIONS

Click the SOUNDS tab

Make sure that both the wav's and midi directorys are pointing to the same directory as the sounds are located in.

Click OK

To test if the sounds will play type /sound filename.wav or /sound filename.mid in the channel and see if you can hear them.

If not you may have an outdated MIRC program or need a new soundcard

Getting your Sounds Playing with PIRCH

First make sure you make a sounds folder.. naming it sounds.. not sound.

Then you need to put these 5 lines in your events..one after the other and they are only 5 lines:

• #1 ON NOSOUND:*.*:#:/notice $nick !DCCSEND $filename
• #2 ON TEXT:!yournick*:#:/dcc send $nick c:\pirch32\sounds\ $+ $2
• #3 ON SOUND:*.*:#:/display > $activewin \-11 \-3 Sound: \-3 \-2 \-31 $filename played by $nick \-2 \-31
• #4 ON DCCDONE:*.*:/notice $nick Thank you for $filename $+ , the transfer rate was $rate CPS. |/playmedia $filename
• #5 ON NOTICE:*!TSEND*:*:/dcc tsend $nick c:\Pirch32\sounds\ $+ $2

Then make sure you check the enable sounds box in corner.

Then go to Prefs DCC

Make sure you have a check in Auto accept files, Auto Minimize & Auto accept chat

This line should be put in the 3 default pathes lines c:\pirch32\sounds\

Then go to Media in Prefs

Make sure you have enabled sounds checked and this should be in the path line c:\pirch32\sounds\
